Day 4 : The Lizard Chase

Slept in with everyone till 9 and then off to the buffet, and was greeted by a little monkey outside our door, who proceeded to catch a katydid and bit its head off.  It’s the circle of life out here in the jungle.  Addie read the blog from yesterday and we talked about all the fun last night.  Bridget and Andy made it to their flight and everything went smoothly.  Back to the room (with bananas for the monkeys in tow) to put on swim suits and went to the pool.  

Kind of low key today so far as everyone is reading books and monitoring the amount of sun that they get.  Addison takes every opportunity to chase a lizard everywhere we go.  We sat down at lunch and there is a lizard of course, so that dominated the conversation over the horrible beach jazz rock music blaring.  He did however enjoy some of my civeche before he departed.  Stacie got a dirty money in honor to John Henke (Addison had to do all the stirring)

After lunch we got in the pool, sunbathed, read some of our books. Looked at more wildlife (saw a Costa Rica squirrel that looked like an inverse skunk), and caught a nap.  At 4:30 there was a sunset hike that we wanted to go on, but Addie didn’t feel like going and Stacie was worried about her toe, so I went off by myself.  It was about an hour total, with a steep climb at the beginning but the rest was flat, and hiked along the mountain ridge above the resort, with a nice view at the end.  Found a dead poisonous snake by the road on the hike, and got a good sunset picture.  When I got back I took a shower and it’s off to sushi tonight.  

As we headed out, saw a family of raccoons in the entryway to our building.  Sushi was great but felt bad for our server as she was the only one for 4 huge tables and she was getting yelled at by some lady.  Addison loved her teriyaki chicken roll and her fried rice and said “best meal of the trip” so we will probably be back tomorrow night.  Strolled through the gift shop and got some coconut ice cream, then back to the room to watch a show and goto sleep.

Day 1 : Off We Go

Up at 6:30 to pack the last of our bags, load up the coffee, and grab a cup of dog.  Yah, it’s starting slow this morning.  We dropped the dog off at Grandpas house after listening to Queen all the way on the car ride.  Judy is giving us a ride to the airport (thanks Judy!) then it’s through security without incident and to the admirals club.  Addison says the biggest thing that she’s excited about is to see her sister. Admirals club breakfast spread was not up to princess standards so she ventured out to Starbucks and then sat over by herself for some voluntary alone time.  Addie is doing the Murdle (some murder mystery game on my iPad) and the people watching in the admirals club is great, and it’s packed in here.  Someone actually has an emotional support goose, and I’m not even kidding.  Boarded our flight and off we go! Day 2 : Adventure Time

Up at 7 and somehow Addison is in the bed with us, and her and Stacie are going blow for blow in a snoring cage match.  I conceded the high ground and went to the gym, then everyone met up at 9 for breakfast.  We recapped yesterday, read the blog, ate, and then headed off for the atv tour. The tour was a blast, everyone had fun, we saw lots of beaches, lots of animals, lots of locals living in shacks along the road, a pig being butchered for a feast tonight, and crabs.  It’s very nice weather, the beaches are super pretty, and the sand is dark but sugar consistency.  None of them was very crowded, but each seemed to have some locals that were gathered together having a good time.  It appears that all the beaches are natural and they all seem to have a big rock protecting them.  I’m still amazed nobody crashed. Back at the resort and we are heading to the pool, but stopped for lunch first.  Lunch was pretty good, the best part was the Pina colada. ...
